Dodgson photographed Mrs. Cameron on this date but there is no positive corroboratlon that this is the photograph he took on the occasion, or indeed that it is by Dodgson at all. The image is typical, nevertheless, of his sensitive approach. Dodgson and Mrs. Carneron had no very high opinion of each other's work. Dodgson records: 'She wished she could have some of my subjects to do out of focus - and I expressed an analogous wish with regard to some of her subjects'.
