Francis Bedford
(1816 - 1894)
lithographer by training, Bedford took up collodion photography in
1857. He quickly acquired a reputation for topographical work and in
1862 was asked to record the Prince of Wales' Middle East tour. His
numerous landscapes and architectural photographs of 1860's and
70's share compositional features with Pre-Raphaelitism, as well as a
similar perfectionism.
